We started as a two family home bible study group back in November of 1995 in Strongsville, Ohio. We soon outgrew our meeting place, so in January of 1996 we moved to a bigger home in
North Royalton, Ohio. Recognizing that God wanted to birth a new local church, we secured Albion Elementary School in North Royalton for Sunday morning services. Church on the Summit
officially began on Palm Sunday, 1996! During the summer months, we would regularly meet outdoors because of floor refinishing at the school. We called those particular days "Church in the
Park" and amazingly enough, we were never rained out during that three summer stint. That really is a miracle for the Cleveland area!
In October of 1998, we finally found a place of our own - the former Yorktown Theater on Brookpark Road in Cleveland, Ohio. We were so excited that we didn't have to set up or tear down
all our equipment every Sunday morning anymore! These were the greatest of times and yet the most difficult times our young church had ever experienced. I have to say that our church
family responded incredibly well during this up and down period.
In the summer of 2000, on what appeared to be a sour note, our building was broken into and everything but our chairs and drum set were stolen. But the Lord turned the whole situation
around and breathed wonderful, new life and opportunity into our church. Soon after, in early 2001, God partnered us with the newly birthed International House of Prayer as they used our
facility to launch their ministry.
We were really feeling holy momentum and we were growing, so we moved into an even larger building one mile west of the theater in August, 2002. This has remained our home to this day.
With all the new square footage, we've been able to do so much more! Not only have we been able to expand our current ministries, but over the years, we've been able to provide office
space for HarvestNet (a cooperative ministry effort of almost thirty churches in the NE Ohio region), provide space for The Healing Rooms of Greater Cleveland (now Great Lakes Healing
Rooms), and we've also been able to launch The Cleveland Deliverance Center.
In the fall of 2007, we launched our ministry to the homeless called Operation Restore. With all that being said, who knows what incredible things our great God has in store for us as we roll
into 2009 and beyond? As you can see, our church is all about sharing the love of Jesus. Why don't you come join in the fun?
